Art was very active as a volunteer serving his community in Numerous capacities offering his time, effort, expertise and knowledge, Among his positions were: past president and lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion #115 (instrumental in obtaining the VLA land for veterans); member of the Squamish Board of Trade; member of the Squamish Hospital Board; foun- ding member of the Squamish Valley Golf and Country Club (he ran the seniors’ tournaments visiting other clubs for ten years); founder of the Squamish Senior Citizens’ Home Society (develop- ment of the Cedars and the Manor, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Administrator); member of the Squamish Municipality's Seniors’ Advisory Commit- tee; Director of the Tantalus Seniors’ Centre Society; Chairman of the Squamish Seniors’ Wellness Council; and President of the Squamish Museum and Historical Society. Art was elected to his strata council the night before he died. We are grateful for his love, time and guidance, and respect him for his in- telligence. integsity, honesty and fairness along with his strength to do what was right, however difficult and no matter the obstacles and personal cast. His influence was always positive though cautious and conservative, his input was valued and he was a model of probity. We will miss his voice of season; his straightforward, practical, thoughtful comments; his encouragement and quiet support; his wry, dry humour; his com- fort; and his warmth. As a husband, he will be semembered for the years of love, happiness and companionship; as a father, his memory will be cherished and an inspiration te try to be worthy of his standards, values and simple, selfless giving goodness.
