Kyle D, Prouse, 20, of North
Vancouver, was fined $350 after
he pleaded guilty to theft of a
casselle Mipe case and its contents,
the property of John Woodlock,
on Feb, f, 1993, in North Van-
couver district.

Victor Wojech Stepien, 37, of
Vancouver, was fined $350 and
placed on ene year's probation
after he pleaded guilty to theft of
a Jeather jacket from Sears Canada
Inc, on March 24; 1992, in North
Vancouver City.

NORTH YANCOUVER City Council Monday night
defeated a motion to endorse a city engineering report
that called for the replacement of the Lions Gate Bridpe
with a new five-hine crossing. In November of last year,
the Ministry of Highways proposed three uplions — in-
cluding a five-hine crossing — lo alleviate traffic con-

gestion at both ends of the First Narrows. Widening the
existing bridge, or converting the Lions Gale Bridge,
were the other two options. Engineers predict that unless
there are major reaavations to the existing span in the
next five years, the bridge won't be able to support the
daily traffic demands placed on it,

_ | have two Tilley stories trom this trip. The first is that he Egyptian
guidos addressed me as “Doctor" for no better reason but that | was
completaly dressed in Tilleys. The second was when 2 lady was seen in the
indistinct distance wearing a Tilley Hat. The gulde volunteered “She Is
coriainly a Canadian - she is wearing a Canadian hat - all you Canadians

wear them.”

leaf In a land where there are no maple leaves - and the full gear is
equated wiih a Ph.D. What more can | say?

NV RCMP seek suspect
in attempted auto theft

AN ALARM triggered by a
smashed window recently
brought the North Vancouver
RCMP to the scene of an at-
tempted auto theft.

Police responded to an alarm
in the 4300-block of Gallant
Avenue on Moiday, Feb. 1, at
1 acm.

While patrotling the area, the
officers stopped a suspect, a
known criminal, who the police
believe was attempting to steal
a motor vehicle.

He was arrested and releas-
ed,

A police spokesman said the
person is believed to have
committed crimes in the area,

He is described as. being 4
white male, 21 years old; $'9"'
(175 em), 190 pounds (85 kg),
with collar-length brown hair
and blue eyes. He is usually on
foot, and fe commits most of
his crimes at night.

Residents are urged to, report
any suspicious activity to the
Block Watch office at. 965-
0800 or the main detachment at
985-131f.

t do have more to say. Jordan Is a gem. Madarn, clean, civilized, pailte,
sale, easy-going, and hardly, any tourists except at Petra. A great relief after
tho incessant baksheesh-seekers of Egypt..! would recommend it to anyone.
