THE ESPON Corporation, cor- porate political and paranormal advisers, political and economic analysts and firturologists recently released a list of world predictions for 1991 and the 1990s. The Ontario based company predicts that: * Audrey McLaughlin is fated to become the prime minister of Canada. The New Democratic Party will not win the elections because of the merit of its pro- grams, but on account of massive political defaults by both the Lib- erals and the Progressive Conser- vatives. The NDP landslide will be generated by an angry, despon- dent and economically frightened electorate. Audrey McLaughlin will form a majority government, with the Conservatives and the Liberals getting as few as between eight to 15 per cent each of the seats in the House of Commons. © The Parti Quebecais will win the next provincial election in Quebec and declare the province an in- dependent nation. * The Canadian Maritime pro- vinces plus British Columbia and Alberta may join the USA be- tween 1995 and 1998. What will remain of Canada may just amount to Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the Arctic ter- ritories and the Yukon. By 1998- 99, the remaining provinces will also join the USA. ® The Canadian dollar wil! first drop to $0.68, then to $0.59 and later to the $0.46 US level. * The economic depression shall last until 1994-95 and bring un- precedented hardship to Cana- dians. ao ® The crash of 1991 will lead to the insolvency of many American and Canadian banks, to a curren- cy reform and to a further crash of real estate values. ©The NDP government of On- tario may fall on account of being unable to find a solution for the ever more overpowering garbage disposal issue. The next provincial elections in Ontario will be fought over garbage and unemployment. INTERNATIONAL SCENE ® Mikhail Gorbachev will be out of office and perhaps this world within eight months. ® Boris Yeltsin will be followed by a KGB candidate, who will be followed by a candidate of the Soviet General Staff, We shall see a feeble and doomed attempt by the Soviet Communists at a counter-revolution. Six years of hunger will come upon the Soviet Union. After that period, Russia will be reborn a great nation. * There will be some potentially devastating war action in the Near and Middle East. A war with [raq may or may not result in military and civilian casualties of about 100,000. © An attempt on the life of US President George Bush may occur in or in the proximity of a theatre or a concert hall. Arab guerrillas will become active again and hi- jack or bomb airplanes. ® One of the moons of Jupiter may disintegrate on account of earthquakes. * The Conservatives will lose the next British elections. ® Wall Street shall crash in 1991. © The world-crash will occur in 1991-92. ww Fie Genecratiamneot Cbevvlate Crattemanebip A Wide Assortment of Fine Belgian Chocolate Gifts Store: CAPILANO MALL 987-6033 Christmas Locations: SINCLAIR CENTRE, HARBOUR CENTRE, THE LANDING, CAPILANO MALL, OAKRIDGE CENTRE Scant BS Os Order Que Slun 00 GIIGIGIGIGIDGIGIOD Friday.
