Writers is tackling the issue head-on. A Cheval sur les mots is a French language anthology of winners of the literary competition of the same name, held last year by the federation. Featuring short stories by French immersion stu- dents and French-speaking adults, A Cheval sur les mots has proven popular with schools across the province, and is now available to the general public. Since its founding in 1982, the federation has been at the centre of controversies focusing on how po- litical, social and cultural issues affect writers. The federation’s stand on bilingualism sparked live- ly debate among its 1 ,0GO members across the province. But the popu- larity of the competition and an- thology suggests that future com- petitions may be held. The cost of the anthology is $9.95.
