Dear Editor:

This is a response to the
letter by Diane Mylrea (De-
fend the right of choice) in
the July 31 isue of the Sun-
day News. I am hoping that
consideration of the abor-
tion issue will encourage
more people to join the
North and West Vancouver
Hospital Society before. the
deadline of August 8th, as
mentioned in her letter.

The central isue of the
abortion controversy con-
cerns the welfare of the
mother with respect to the
right of life of the unborn
child. I believe that the kill-
ing of innocent human be-
ings - including unborn
children - is wrong, even
though this has been
justified in the past (in the
case of war, for instance).

choices - excluding abortion

sidered before and after a

allows for hospital boards to
decide on the matter of
therapeutic abortion com-
mittees, we, as present and
prospective members of the
Hospital Society, should
seek. to elect board members
who understand that unborn
children have the right to
live.
