They will also dedicate an additional 56 ares of land as park, include recreational facilities and upgrade the water system. All of this however, would depend upon the land being rezoned trom single-family to multi-family. The entire issue was the subject. of a recent public hearing at municipal hall. With the public hearing closed, council took the issue through second and third readings. This means the project is one step closer to becoming a reality. Vhe water system, which is supplied through wells, also passed its first test as) the North Shore Health Region gave its stamp of approval on the water quality test samples. Still, council said it will be taking things slowly. Final reading will not take place for some time as politi- cians vowed to check every step of the process, especially the water treatment. “This is more than we impose on other developers,” said Coun, Allan Willams. He further pointed our that council was not “spot rezon- ing™ and that multi-family housing is not uncommon in West Vancouver. He was backed by council- lors Ron Wood and) Victor Durman who agreed that this kind of affordable housing. is needed. Wood called the develop- ment a “necessary addition to the housing stack.” Coun.
