Solid disc elements put

cooking on back burner

IT’S FIVE p.m., family members are headed in five
different directions and it looks as if plans for a nor-
mal dinner may get pushed to the back burner again.

But if the family range or cooktop has solid disc

dustry’s hot new trend: solid thermal and temperature
sensing elements. Thermal elements, marked by a

While similar to conventional coil elements in many

for both the cooking surface and utensil should it boil
dry by automatically switching to a lower heat setting.

The thermal protection also reduces the heat setting
if the element is operated without a utensil in place or

foods, or for melting butter or heating milk

Equally important to the convenience-conscious
cook are the temperature sensing elements, which
regulate the temperature of pots and pans. Ideal for
simmering and frying, the elements free busy cooks
from returning to the range to adjust temperature set-

tings.

proach to surface cooking because they have been
