Mini-tennis comes to NV

MINI TENNIS has come to North Vancouver.

The Young Stars Tennis Club and the North Van-
couver Recreation Commission both offer a scaled-
down version of the game suited to young players’

skills.
Taught on a smaller court with lighter equipment

and balls, mini tennis is better suited to 4 youngster’s
lesser size, strength and physical maturity. . ;

- With the modificd approach, the young players hit
the ball more often and in the process have more fun

at the game, said the program’s organizers.

Though the concept of teaching sports skills by br-
inging the games down to the size of participants is
old, the practice is relatively new to Canada.

The Young Stars Tennis Club is already active in a
number of North Shore elementary schools; the rec-
reation commission’s lessons start soon.

Registration is now being accepted. To get involved
in mini tennis call Young Stars at 929-3192 or the
recreation commission at 988-6166.
