One in 12 UBC grads
come from N. Shore

Almost 300 North Shore
residents were among the
record 3,591 students who
received academic degrees
last week at the University of
British Columbia's three-day
Spring Congregation — with

The next three largest
categories in order of size
were Bachelors of Science,

Bachelors of Education and
Bachelors of Commerce.
This year’s winner of the
Governor-General’s Gold
Medal, which goes to the
head of the graduating
classes in the faculties of
Arts and Science, was Anne
Alexandria Gardner of
Coquitlam, who received her
BSc with honors in
mathematics and chemistry.
She averaged just over 96

per cent on her final exams.

The University Medal,
which went this year to the
top student in the faculty of
Arts, has been won by
Lauren Mary-Anne Dubeau
of Terrace, who now lives in
Burnaby. She majored in
psychology.
