No signs of a new pact

friendship treaty signed 30
years ago when China and

the Soviet Union were on

and there were few signs the

Eniwetokese have returned
to their ancestral home, a
mid-Pacific atoll devastated
by nuclear tests for 33 years
and cleaned by the United
States at a cost of more than
$110 million.

Adrian Winkel, Trust

missioner, said Wednesday
officials hope resettlement
of the people in 166 concrete
homes will be complete
within the next two months.
