The clarion

call is sounding across the land in

support of Canada Week (June 27 to July 1). The
theme of national unity has taken on a new
dimension since the victory of Rene Levesque’s
Parti Quebecois !ast November. Everywhere in
anglophone Canada -- acd in numerous parts of
Quebec itself -- plans are afoot to turn the 110th
anniversary of Confederation into a gigantic
demonstration of the wish and will of Canadians to

survive as a united country.

‘The North Shore is enter-
ing into the spirit of the
occasion ’ with enthusiasm

under the energetic guidance
of Fred. Clark and. his North
Shore Canada Week Com-
mittee. North Vancouver’s
traditional July 1 parade is
expected to be the biggest
and dest ever. — e

Posters promoting the
celebration will be blossom-
ing from Deep Cove to
Horseshoe Bay. West Van-
couver is setting up a
massive display of red-and-
white maple leaf flags along
Marine Drive and staging a
special civic ceremony on
Monday next outside the
municipal hall.

Meanwhile, press releases
from Canada Week head-
quarters in Ottawa are
fluttering down daily on to
the desks of editors like
maple leafs in the fall.

One of the most interest-
ing. that came our way last
