VC approves trash dumping fee

NORTH Vancouver City has im-
posed a $2 per load fee for dum-
ping garbage at the North Shore
Transfer Station. The fee has al-
ready been approved by the other
two North Shore municipalities.

But city council voted to allow
owners of single-family homes to
dump waste al the transfer station
for free two times a year. Home-
owners. will’ likely be issucd with
coupons permitting them to use
the facility.

Residents will also be able to
drop off 200 kilograms (440
pounds) of compostable giurden
waste such as leaves and grass
clippings at no charge.

Council heard the green waste
limit was about one pickup truck
load, but Coun. Rod Clark said
that may not be enough.
