The North Vancouver Community Arts Council] has organized the Art in the Garden Tour, noon to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28. The self-guided tour spans the North Shore, from Eagle Harbour to Deep Cove, encompassing large estates, urban settings and everything in between. Twenty-two artists showcases their talent amidst the splendour of 16 of the North Shore’s outstanding gardens. Artist Carolyn Margesson’s soft pastel portraits and world traveller Jean Bonvini’s vibrant paintings adorn Stella Jo and Roland Dean's prize-winning heritage garden in Carisbrooke, with trees, ornamental shrubs and perennials that date to 1927. Painter Lyla Bessner’s abstracts of garden scenes complement the cascading perennials and panoramic ocean view of Glen Patterson's rockery garden in Caulfeild Cove. Artist Janis Blyth displays her colour- ful canvases in the cottage studio and newly planted perennial garden to the rear of the Grand Boulevard area home she shares with Ron Carels. Artists and gardeners will be on site to answer questions. Pick up a tour guide brochure at any of the North Shore ree centres, libraries, municipal halls or at the North Shore News.
