The region, he said, is acal- ing with enormous transit demands to serve a Lower Mainland population expected to grow 70% to three million in 30 years. It will mean that transportation staff and land- use planners will be able to work closer together. However, West Vancouver council thumbed its collective nose at the proposal frem the beginning. When passing judg- on Feb. 16, West Vancouver councillors said the agreement must be studied in more detail and organized to bring more accountability to the proposed GVTA board. And the district asked for a transit commission fom sed of one voting mem- m each municipality and cicero area in the GVRD. Under the approved agree- ment, residential property taxes can be revenue-generators for the GVTA and the North Shore will have one voting member on a= 15-member board.
