workshop
in France
a big draw

NORTH SHORE artists
and would-be artists have
been lining up to take ad-
vantage of one of this
year’s most creative travel

adventures.

A workshop to be held in
France in July with noted water-
colorist Kiff Holland is now full,
but Capilano College is accepting
applications for the waiting list.

“There has been an overwhelm-
ing response,’’ said Babette Deg-
gan, co-director of the Summer
Centre for the Arts in Mon-
taigut-le-Blanc,

People wishing to participate,
however, can still sign up for an
August painting and drawing
workshop at the centre.

Conducted by practising painter
and sculptor Paul Deggan, the
lively program of lectures, discus-
sions and hands-on _ instruction
stresses developing the imagina-
tion with stimulus from the visual
world :

The. visual stimulus at Mon-
taigut-le-Blanc is powerful, say
organizers. The centre is perched
in a rustic French village where
participants gain inspiration from
lush vineyards, orchards, and
fields of giant sunflowers.

Besides the art workshops, the
centre is offering French language
workshops in July for the inter-
mediate and advanced level, and
in August for beginners and in-
termediates.

gram’ for people 60 years of age
and older takes place | in June with
sessions in painting and drawing,
French language, and creative
writing.
