ing for Indian River School, | find
it hard to understand the Ministry
of Education's celuctance to deal
with the issue of replacing
deteriorating Burrard View School.

sympathy but no assistance, put-
ting responsibility for land acquisi-
tion and rezoning on North Van-
couver District instead of the pro-
vincial government.

What the parent delegation re-
quested from the Ministry of
Education was a sum of $20,000 to
bring the seven-year-old replace-
ment school plans (Cove Cliff
School) up to date so the rezoning
process and land acquisition talks
could begin using current informa-
tion. North Vancouver School
Board and municipality must have
accurate plans before proceeding
any further.

The Minister of Education told
our delegation he was reluctant to
grant the initial planning nmioney
because it implied a further com-
mitment to build Burrard View's
replacement in the near future,

This, then, is the crux of the
matter — the government is not
willing to proceed with replacing
Burrard View School, Mr. Davis'
comment obscures this fact.

Burrard View Schoat has been
considered obsolete since 1974, It
is a substandard and hazardous
tocation for a school. As a parent,
fam not asking for favers when 1
request a replacement schaal — it
