In announcing the name change, Shaw said the com- pany’s other cablesystems across Canada, all of which have individual) names, will eventually change to ‘‘Shaw Cablesystems’’ as well. Shaw said the change in the corporate identity reflects a new direction for the com- pany which until now retain- ed area-by-area identity. ‘‘By bringing all the British Col- umbia and Alberta’ com- pamies owned by Capital Cable TV of Edmonton under one name, the Cor- poration can new be recognized as one of Canada’s targest leading Cable TV companies’’, says AM yedr terms) Sdale Westview hoo S15) “A aod and ‘ot Coeorges Avenue SOK IS LEQuICEed te (bATE FC) at the uty Coty Pde VAY Went 14th Syteeret Noth Vaarre cavers bt ¢ What's fry ther ervernit a poll is necessaty Holy bruty Church (bt ibtary) J/th Street and (onsdale Avenue North Shore Neighborhood House Ye’S bast Second Street Poth Gleeet and Catan boulevard Job Ss C traec fy bhaatl Tath Street and C hesterfteid Avenue totendedd for hospital patents onty Y dant! tions are a disservice to a great many of the people who are apt to read them. A financial expert who is ada- mant about term insurance being the best buy for everyone is speaking (writing) from ignorance either of life insurance, or human nature, or both. The term insurance is the Only insurance to buy - tn cer- tain specific situations: if protection is needed for only a limited time; or if the pur- chaser ts prepared to devote a lot of time to an investment program (that is, if he/she is a financia) expert in his/her own right). (Most permanent life in- surance plans have level premiums, of course). Now I have no personal ex- perience with this, but I've heard from reputable associates that milhonaires often buy permanent life in- surance for estate protection. (I’ve sold permanent _in- Surance to wealthy = non- millionaires - people who cer- tainly have access to compe- tent financial advice). Most monied people recognize good value; they rarely throw their money away. One big reason I don’t like surance is that their sugges- tion for replacing it isn’t always clear; the reader often gets only part of the story - the part that says term is the only life insurance to buy. The rest of their story ts, generally, that once we've all bought our term insurance premium and the permanent insurance premium, and make investments with it. Ac- cording to the experts, by the time the term insurance becomes too expensive [to continue in force, our in- vestments will be worth much more than the cash values in a permanent policy over the same period. | agree that they would be - investment - and then invest it. Not many of us will do that, however, and those of us who do won’t all invest successfully. (l’ve heard of financial experts who have gone broke). My advice to anyone who is buying hfe insurance: if your agent doesn’t tell you about term insurance, ask about it; find out why it isn’t recommended for your situa- tion. And no matter how much hfe insurance you buy, make sure some of it is per- manent life insurance as a foundation for an investment program... even if you are a financial expert. Marilynne A.
