All human beings have the same rights. Can you help being born white? No, and neither cana color help being a color. If you deserve love and consideration, remember everyone does and who is to say whether white or black is supenor? Neither is — just different, that is all. Surely we have enough stabbings, knifings and knife attacks day in and day out without further promotion of this kind. I found the picture distasteful and suggestive and I am very surprised you would permit a picture such as this in your paper. I am sure the police departments would agree with me — they have enough trouble with this type of thing without any further encouragement on the part of the media. K.C. Burns West Vancouver Cove united in uniqueness Dear Editor: In all fairness I would like to respond to “Deep Cove hurt by penny-pinching”. The people of Deep Cove live in a unique community. unique im its geographic locanon and history. It is very different than other parts of the district. We want to protect this and allow change as_ change has naturally occurred throughout the decades in the Cove, through tradition, of which change occurs by means of “old ways were once new ways”. In the private meetings (without media, politicians, or others from outside the community) of the Deep Cove Dollarton Community Association, not once did | hear mention that increase of taxes were of concern. In fact the CoVe is united in its stand to preserve our unique community and this applies equally to homeowners and renters. The proof of this will be found in the minutes of these meetings. As for upgrading of roads: if roads or a _ road is dangerous or inadequate, then we say ‘Yes,’ upgrade the road but don't widen it and change rostes that will take the flow of traffic away from the commercial areas and into family residential areas.
