Employment equity promotes hostility Dear Editor: The recent letter by Peter Ferris (bemoaning Doug Collins who made Ferris “feel bad") is fair opin- ion except that over hall of his fet- ter promoted soctal engineering falsehoods. There has never been proof that the newest fad of social engineers lied “employment equity” warks in practice, but, there has been ample. evidence in all jurisdictions where it has been tried that it h, id severe adverse effects. ‘ It promotes hostility and hatresd when a person must be accepted . ahead of anather because the cho- sen is of the correct color. sex or nice, Canada is .a democracy based upon majority rule (and merit — up to now). Ferris and his Hk promote rule by the “new elite’: the bureau- crats and back-room flacks. who know. what's best for us, who wish to experiment on us, and change us ;to what they deem is proper “thought and proper action. — . The renowned black professor * Thomas. Sowell, who regularly writes in the prestigious Farbes magazine, has studied employment equity in depth and concludes that it-is harmful to his race. The two recent articles in Financial Post's Spectrum give much negative evi- dence. | ; - Yet Ferris and his fellow social engineers. disregard both the evi- dence and the fact that the principle ‘of equality of all cilizens and advancement: by merit will be destroyed. They want to impose their own agenda Without a vote. Collins is’ the ‘only Canadian columnist with “courage enough to comment on the great sacred cow.of social engi- neers —~ multiculturalism (multira- cialism?) and immigration. Canada ‘has a’ real’ unemployment rate of ‘over 16% but Ferris is not per- turked. He wants no debate on govern- ment policy to allow 300,000 immigrants per year-to whom employment equity would give jobs “ahead of most Canadians with more ; merit. Ferris refuses to compare his. own-credentials of having an edu-. cation and being conversant in the English language versus the 85% of afl immigrants who now come in - purely on the basis of theoretically having a relative here—one half of the: 85% is considered to be illiter- ate even in their own country. Canada’s inunigration hiws ane the laughing stock of the world, We even aceepl haown criminals as refugees. We accept peuple with no traditions of democracy and the majority could give us lessons in intolerance with their castes, untouchables, etc, In the pire of social engincer- ing and multireciahisnr we invite people with customs tually repre- hensible to the majority, , — We invite those with the custom ‘of putting down women, of abort- ing female [ctuses, ete, As a citizen of this country which hus been more generous and more toward immigration chan other country in the world, 1 want debate, discussion and referendums on these subjects. Immigration and multiculturalism wil! change the Canadian make-up for centuries 10 core (versus trivialities in history like our deficit which will be “resolved in ane or two dozen yéars one way or another, However much it affects us, historically it's no big deal). Immigration and multiracial- -ism is a big deal and the rationale used to woo us into complacency — that education would make us all live in unity and friendliness forever. —- has been disproved by the conditions injthe old Russian empire, the Middle East and on and on. : Each neweomer to an urban cen- ter requires $60,090 worth of fixed assets to be in place to, service them. At 300,000 immigrants per year that is.$18 billion dollars per year — nearly one half our deficit! The vast majority of these immi- - grants will never be net contribu- tors to Canada. No vote of citizens was held on this new experiment for.Canada to premote a large pro- portion of visibly different people who generally never integrate, These experimental policies were sneaked in by the social engi- neers, Ail Canadians deserve debate on the subject. Doug Collins is my favorite of those expressing opposition. I find Mr. Ferris’ letter to be offensive, misleading, anti-thought, . anti-debate, autocratic. clitist, non- democratic and anti-free speech on the most important topic in Canada — employment and. the future make-up of our nation.
