The North Shore Babe Ruth Baseball Association is hosting the Pacific NorthWest Regional Baseball Championships at Parkgate Field in North Vancouver July 31 through Aug. 6. The seven-day tournament will showcase the talents of the best 16-year old boy players in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. The six teams taking part include the host North Shore team, British ‘Columbia, Alberta, Northern Washington, Southern Washington and Oregon. North Shore plays its open- er on Saturday at noon against Southern Washington. The opening ceremonics take place Friday at 6 p.m. A barbecue will follow. Parkgate Field is located at the end of Parkgate Avenue off Mount South Seymour Parkway. Admission is free to all games. eee LACROSSE... With just three games left in the Western Lacrosse Association regular season, the North Shore Indians are guaranteed a plav- off position. The two big questions that will be answered over the course of the next week are whether North Shore can catch Coquitlam and Maple Ridge for secund spot, and if Indians forward Todd Karanchik can win the regular season scoring ttle. Maple Ridge’s Darren Fridge was second with 77 points, followed by his teammate Kevin Stewardson with 72. Hostord was drafted in the 40th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in this year’s Major League Baseball draft.
