BCR Group’s 1995 pro-
jects tab hits $132 million

The BCR Group of Companies,
which includes North Vancouver-
based BC Rail, has committed $132
million for projects in 1995, includ-
ing new freight cars, rail, bridge and
tie replacement, new technology for
vabooseless train operations and the
re-engineering of locomotives. .

Most of the work in the North
Vancouver rail yard is complete,
but some items, such as a $12 mil-
lion track upgrade, between North
Vancouver and Tumbler Ridge, will
improve local services, said .com-

Other expenditures include grad-
ing and rock stabilization along the
Cheakamus’ Canyon:and a $7-mil-
lion, 60,000-square-foot - neighbor-
hood retail center in Squamish.

in December

Over 1,073,000 tonnes of grain
were shipped through the port of
Vancouver during December, which
broke a record set in 1991.

announced construction is under-
way at Lynnterm's new 5,336-

pulp shed. The project, constructed
and funded by the terminal operator
Western Stevedoring’ Co. Lid., is
expected to be completed in the sec-
ond quarter of this year.
