Association warns of
child car seat problems

The British Columbia
Automobile Association, in
association with Transport
Canada, is advising con-
sumers about two potential
‘problems affecting Fisher-
Price car seats, Model
AC9102. ;
_ The first probiem affects 45,300
seats manufactured between Feb.
- 8,.1991 and Dec. 15, 1991.
Fisher-Price has determined
that under certain circumstances
- the shoulder harness straps, -vhich
are’ connected to the retractor
system at the back of the seat by a
connector bar, can slip off the
connector bar, leaving one or both
~ shoulder straps unattached to the
‘"fetractor system. “

connector bars — over. time and

modified the connector bar so this
will no longer be a problem.

Fisher-Price will provide cus-
tomers with affected seats with
free repair kits, consisting of a
plastic connector bar cover and
full instructions. :

To obtain: a kit, consumers
should contact Fisher-Price at 1-
800-332-3457.

Fisher-Price recommends that
affected seats be used until repair
kits are received, since the system
will provide a higher level of pro-
tection than not using the restraint
at all.

The second problem affects
17,500 Fisher-Price AC9102 car
seats manufactured from June 1,
1985 to Oct. 31, 1989.

Fisher-Price has determined
that under certain circumstances a
component in the buckle assembly
focated on the shield portion. of
the restraint can crack or break,
making it difficult to engage the
buckle with the tongue.

Consumers are asked to contact
Fisher-Price at 1-800-332-3457 to
obtain a free replacement harness
system and shield. .
