Pasparos arrived in 1974 as the North Shore’s version of Orestes, Aristedes Pasparakis’ great Van- couver Greek restaurant. It provided a vigorous oasis of joyous Greek culture and social intercourse along the barren 3rd Street strip. That strip remains as culturally bankrupt today as it was 20 years ago, perhaps with even less to of- fer now. Pasparakis, a compulsive found- er of restaurants, sold Pasparos in 1978 to former Pasparos waiter Gregory Roumanis, but he return- ed in 1988 to overhaul the restau- _ rant’s menu and host a 15th anni- versary customer appreciation Greek fiesta at Pasparos. The menu he brought with him then is still largely intact. It includes the souvlaki, mousaka, lamb, beef and chicken backbone of classic rural Greek Helping You Protect The Planet!
