Mt. Seymour Ravens got goals in the last 10 minutes from Eric van der Horst and Trevor Hawksworth to edge Avalon Rangers 2-1, with lain MacKay the only Ranger able to beat Ravens goalkeeper Colin Brierly. Accountemps got into the act by blanking previously unbeaten Olympia Goldcaps 2-0 on the strength of goals by George Boyle and Graham Scott. Centre-backs Dave Alderson and Wayne Hardy were outstanding in the winning effort, as was stand-in goalie Dennis Watt in notching the shut-out. In week six, Avalon got 2 pair of goals from MacKay, a single from Steve Pii, and a cracker from Dave Sawley to go with the shut-out goal-tending of Karet Groeneveld, dumping F.C. Ger- mania 4-0. Meanwhile Ravens got a pair “from Cameron Grant and singles from van der Horst and Hawksworth as they edged Ac- countemps 4-3. The other match-up saw Henry Donkers score a pair for Oly while Simon Chivers and Mark Lucas added one each as Goldcaps thumped Castlemaine XX XX 4-1. The third match of week seven had F.C. Germania and Castle- maine battle to a 2-2 draw. Sydor cycles to victory NORTH VANCOUVER cyclist Alison Sydor captured an exciting four-rider final sprint to clinch her victory in the women’s event of the B.C. Road Race on June 17. Leslie Tomlinson, also from North Vancouver, surged past Sara Neil of Vancouver to place second in the 100-kilometre race.
