FOODSAFE PROGRAM

WORKSHOPS ON the new Food-
safe program are being sponsored
by the North Shore Health
Department in conjunction with
Capilano College.

Designed to address the need for
education of food handlers on
food safety and prevention of food
Poisoning, the Foodsafe program
was developed in conjunction with
the Telecollege Consortium of
B.C. and the B.C. Restaurant and
Foodservices Association.

The program is applicable to
staff in restaurants, bakeries, deli-
catessens, long-term care facilities,
family day cares and child care fa-
cilities. There are no prerequisites
for the workshops. The topics are
also of interest to the general
public.

Basic Level I, suitable for entry
level workers, will be offered on
Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. at Capilano College.

Each workshop costs $40 and
will be taught by Sally de la Rue

After the successful completion
of each workshop, a diploma will
be issued. Names will be registered
in a central registry in Victoria
