I have been a resident of this area for the past 27 years. During most of this time the post office has been situated in the drug store within the Lynn Valley Shopping Centre. This location had some very positive benefits to the users of the facilities, such as ample parking, and once the post office patrons have arrived at the shopping centre they were able to conduct other business without going outside to another location. All this has now changed. The post office is now located in the 7-11 store at the junction of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain High- way. The quarters are cramped, particularly for the users of the post office facilities and are always congested even in non-rush hour periods, What it will be like at Christmas boggles the mind. Parking is not ample for the amount of traffic that the post of- fice generates without taking into consideration the other risers of the facilities — customers of the 7-11 store and the gasoline pumps. When the fall and = winter weather arrives in Lynn Valley, users of the post office facilities, when using a car, will have to ne- gotiate the difficulty of access to the store, basically around a one- way road system. If they are elderly or infirm and without transportation, as many of the users in this area are, it will be necessary for them to walk a distance of some quarter mile in each direction from the present shopping centre to the 7-11 store to buy stamps and conduct other business with the post office only. This will make the shopping ex- Experience apartheid in our own backyard Dear Editor: As an environmentalist | have experienced our Native peoples’ support for the preservation of endangered wilderness in many issues in this province. Recent media coverage of amateur anglers angry about the Squamish Band catch of salmon in the Capilano motivated me to write to you. I recently enjoyed watching the Indian War Canoe races at Ambleside, This coincided with a popular salmon barbecue put on by the band at Waterfront Park, Lonsdale Quay. As one of the few times during the year when members of our Native brotherhood are invited to partake in a public social event one could presume that their recent fishing measures were to meet the needs of this event. As our Native peoples are ex- cluded from many levels of society through our own nar- rowmindedness and their strict spirituality, cultural and family SPECIAL TWO RUNS (MOST CARS) includes: Brake job includes machine turn, 2 colors, 2 drums, heavy duty brake pads & shoes, Repack Wheel Bearings. $5.00 off with Coupon on oil change, filter & tube & 10 pt. safety check.
