Dear Editor: Some days ago I attended at an open meeting of the North Vancouver District Council in which certain proposals were put forth for upgrading the Deep Cove business core. Unlike most of the local residents |! support the District's at- tempt to take action in improving the roadways in this area. At the same time I agree with the general consensus that council's proposals were useless and totally uncalled for. I found it truly unfortunate that rather than encouraging Council’s action and discussing other more functional solutions, these people decided to make certain that District Hall should forget about ever Cable company working or developing the area in the future. In the world of real people, the District of North Vancouver has a reputation for being one of the most poorly managed residential areas in British Columbia. In most communities the roads are im urgent need of upgrading and having proper drainage installed. In Deep Cove, these problems are second only to that of parking. When the residents here demand that the district keep “HANDS OFF” their run-down community, something is truly wrong. I am extremely amused to hear my neighbours express their undying love for the “pack woods” atmosphere created by the too narrow gravel roads and labyrinths of potholes which abound in the area. These same people are waging a day by day war with the other inhabitants on their street for much needed parking space. They call the RCMP to ticket each other's cars. They have their neighbour's vehicle towed away if it is parked in front of their property. With increasing frequency they have taken to swearing and fighting in the streets because some unsuspecting stranger parks in their parking spot (which of course was designated to them by some sign sent from the heavens). These people want things to remain as they are? Truly this is some kind of a farce. The residents of Deep Cove may find may excuses ruins his World Series Dear Editor. Today, October 14, I was chosen again to have the cablevision wire ripped from our house, for the third time. The wire is strung across a portion of the road that is an upgrade, therefore, large trucks unknowingly rip it down. Unfortunately, today is the first of the World Series Games and | have a fanatic for a husband. The driver of this particular vehicle was very concerned, and after he backed down, completed his delivery, he then returned to check on the wire. This in itself 1s very commendable in that no one else usually bothers about it, especially Cable West, who are, I think, responsible for their wire. However, upon calling Cable West at 3:40 pm, I was informed that there would be no repairmen until the next day and the wire would be picked up then. I fully realize that cablevision is not a necessity but on the other hand I am paying for this service! Also, we have small children playing in the area, and Lord knows what they could do with a long loose wire. To Cable West Ltd., a big “BOO” and to the driver of Why so long to fix bridge?
