A driver whose vehicle struck a woman at a North Vancouver cross- walk has been found 100% liable for the acci- dent by a B.C. Supreme Court Judge. On Dee. 11, 1995, Kathleen Williams, then 48, was walking across East 3rd Street at Moody Avenue at 7:30 a.m. on hei way to work. She was hit by a car travelling weston East 3rd driven by Susan Low. A suit filed against the dri- ver by two of Williams’ guardians, Sally Forman and ews of the wy Linda Nickerson, was heard in B.C. Supreme Court on Nov. 9 and 10. Although she hesitated when the truck went through the crosswalk, her actions could not have influenced the acci- dent, because as Low told a police officer, she did not see Williams before the impact. “I am satisfied that the plaintiff must have thought, as I think she was entitled to, that any oncoming _ traffic would stop for her and hence continued walking at a normal pace after the truck went through the crosswatk,” he wrote yn the other hand, the weight of the evidence is that Corpse foils African pension ploy IN November, government officials in East London, South Affica, thwarted an attempt by two men and a woman to reg- ister a corpse for pension bene- fits.
