Geoff Speck has passed
away.

Geott, 93, bought his
house ia West Vancouver in
the 1950s and lived there ever
sinee. He died at home on
Sunday, Oct. 31. He was the
last oof six. children, the
youngest, and he was my
uncle,

Mary and me, Geoff is. sur-
vived by his step-brother Eddic

man for most of bis working
lite. He sold dry goods over
most of B.CL, adventuring up
and down the coast in Union
steamships and other coast car-
riers, As roads opened up the

panions he drove hundreds of

thousands of miles all over
B.C. He bought baskets and
other items from native arti-
sans and made a lot of friends.

Since his retirement, and
after the death of his wife Jean,
Geoff lived alone in his house
overlooking the water.

He was, for the most part
of his life, a healthy and active
person, and looked alter him-
self. As he grew into his 90s
and became more frail his
neighbours and friends pitched
in together to allow him to
continue to five in his home,
providing a loving and uneb-

A caregiver was arranged
for him in the last owo years of
his life, during the daylight

He fell and broke his hip

again when death came at 6:30
p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. He
was 2 nice man, my father’s
brother. My own pop died very
suddenly when Twas 19 (41
years ago), and over the years
Geoit became like a father to
me. Ti imiss him, but I know it
was his time to go, and he
went.

Funeral services will be held
at 10 am. this coming
Saturday, Nov. 6, at the new
Boai Chapel, First) Mermoriai
Funcral Services, 1505 Lillooet
Rd., North Vancouver.

Friends and family are invit-
ed to attend. There will be a
reception with coffee, tea and
sandwiches at Geoff's home
after the service.
