HISTORY wiil be made on Sunday, Sept. 26
when the streets of Vancouver near Science World
host a moving tribute to the evolution of the
automobile from horseless carriage to sportscar.

The Vintage Car Club of Canada, B.C, Chapter, in assucia-
don with BCAA, ICBC, Science World and White Spot, present
100 Years of Motoring, an event and parade celebrating the
centennial of the arrival of the first automobile in BC.

What was that vehicle? A Locomobile and the parade will
feature an example of one as weil as 99 other autamabiles trom
each vear of the past veatury,

Said Vern Wellburn, event coordinator who will be leading
the convoy by piloting the Locomabile, “Having these venicles
together, representing cach year from 1899 to 1999, will be a
first in Canada. So, in addition to being 4 salute ro history, the
event itself will be historymaking,.~

The parade starts at Scienee World at 10:30a.m. and runs till
noon.

Post-parade highlights will include:
Mi display of cars and photo opportunity at Creekside Park;
BM Woite Spor Car Hop Challenge starring, new and veteran car
hors navigating a rigorous obstacle course with crays in hand;
& White Spot Pipe Band;
@W appearance by Province autometive columnist and BCAA
technical advisor, Bob McHugh, ro answer questions about
buying, owning or maintaining an automobile; ;
Screenings of Super Speedway, starring Mario Andretti, at the
Alcan Omnimas Theatre;
@% make-and-take activities for children.

Vehicles on display will include:
Ba 1902 Holley;
Bia 1908 Northern;
3a 1912 Reo;
1920s Fords (Model T to As);
® a 1931 Duesenburg;
Ba 1944 Jeep; :
Ba 1958 Cadillac convertible; and
BICBC's “25th Anniversary” 1973 Ford Mustang.
