Deana IT’S the municipal issue that won't go away. Once ar again, amalgamation of the nwo North Vancouvers has a caster been discussed during district debate. A completed Coopers and Lybrand report requested last year by Coun. Ernie Crist recently appeared on the district's agenda. The report highlights fiscal inequalities between the municipalities for shared services. Adding inguiring fuel to his previous arguments, Crist also said he thinks city residents are using district playing fields reporter without contributing to their construction and upkeep costs. But no matter what the argument is, North Vancouver City Council has stated repeatedly it’s not interested in joining forces with the district. When the issue arose last year, city councillors said city tax- payers would be shortchanged by amalgamation, because the district carries a larg- er debt load. On the other hand, wouldn’t one municipal government be more cost-effective over time?
