DISTRICY PUB owners are fuming over the anticipated
council move to ban smoking in all indoor public places by
dune ¢, The decision could push business into North
Vancouver City, where a proposed ban on smoking was
re jected by council 5-2, West Van has reserved decision on
the issue pending consultation with the other municipali-
ties. The issue only highlights the need for consensus among
North Shore municipalities, who should be working togeth-
er to attract business to the North Shore in the highly com-
petitive restaurant/pub market. In the meantime, non-
smokers are breathing a little easier, anticipating a meal
eaten unmolested by drifting cigarette smoke. We asked
you: “Should smoking be banned in all public places?”
