BRIGHT LIGHTS FOR THE seventh year run- ning, the Rotary Club of North Vancouver sponsored the Great Capilano River Duck Race last Sunday, March 6. More than 30,000 of the little yellow plastic mallards nego- tiated the river and, at $5 a duck or $20 for five, raised money for a variety of Lower Mainland charities. Centre lends helping hand THE EMILY Murphy House, a North Shore transition house for abused women and children, and the Park Royal Cinemas are presenting children's matinees each Sunday in March at 2 p.m. with proceeds going to the EMH. The series kicked off last Sunday, March 6, with a $5,000 cheque presentation to North Shore Crisis Services Society president Maureen Jones, Park Royal Shopping Centre director Rick Amantea pres ?nted the cheque on behaif of the mail, the theatre and mail owners, the Larco Group. THE WINNERS of the Seventh Annual Great Capilano River Duck Race are: Betiy Stewart of North Van, who took the first prize of a trip for two from Vancouver to London and Singapore on British Airways Club World Ciass, followed by a ride on the Orient Express to Bangkok and Kuala Lampur. Second prize of a one-week vacation for two in Fiji went to Michelle Marion of North Van; third prize of a one-week holiday for two in Singapore and Bali went to George Drescher of Vancouver; fourth prize of a one-week trip for four to Disneyland went to Margo Parren of North Van; fifth prize of a rail tour for two on the Great Canadian Rocky Mountaineer went to K. Miller of Vancouver; sixth prize of a full set of Daiwa golf clubs went to K. Klausen of North Van; seventh prize of an IBM personal computer with soft- ware and printer went to Marian Morris of Burnaby; eighth prize of a three-day ski/golf vacation for two in the Okanagan went to Jake Prait of Vancouver; ninth prize, a one-year’s worth of shopping vouchers for Save- on-Foods, went to Roger Fisher of North Van; and 10th prize, a privately catered din- ner for eight, went to Kay Maxwell of Vancouver.
