Paul Le Blond, UBC oceanogra-
pher, in ‘‘The Latest From Loch
Ness,’’ at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oc-
tober 22, in Lecture Hall 3,
Woodward Building, 2594 Health
Sciences Mall, UBC.

Le Blond, who has made a
longstanding hobby of sea monster
lore, picked up new information at
the International Society of Cryp-
tozoology conference in Edinburgh
this summer.

About the credibility of evidence
to date, he says, ‘‘Belief is some-
thing you keep for Santa Claus.’”

seen as a threat to the resident
monster and the tourism it at-
