87 Autoplan premiums

THE NEW three per cent premium tax effective April
1 will not result in increased Autoplan premiums this
year, {CBC announced recently.

“‘Traditionally, we adjust our premiums once a
year,’’ said ICBC president Tom Holmes.. ‘‘About
half of our customers have already renewed their
Autoplan coverage for 1987. We would prefer to see
how the year goes from a claims and expenses view-

ICBC’s Rate Stabilization Reserve could be tapped
at year end to make up any operating loss created by
the new tax.

The reduction of the Provincial Sales Tax to six per
cent could realize a saving of about $2 million for the
corporation. ICBC pays this tax on all auto parts and
other corporate purchases.
