Join the Coho Walk

WITNESS ONE of the most awe-
inspiring and mysterious acts of
nature Sunday, Sept. 7, as thou-
sands of Coho Salmon battle the
turbulent white waters of the
Capilano River in a_ relentless
struggle to return to their spawning
grounds below the Cleveland Dam.

The seventh annual Coho Walk
begins at 10 a.m. in Park Royal’s

south mall parking lot, under the ©

east overpass closest to Marine
Drive.

.. There you'll receive a map and
family fun guide inviting you to

discover attractions and interesting
features awailing you on the 7%
kilometre walk.

Accompanied by Greater Van-
couver Regional District (GVRD)
Parks naturalists, shuttle buses
then take you to the top of Cleve-
land Dam. Follow the well marked
scenic canyon trails downstream to
the salmon hatchery. Hike through
towering evergreen forests to the
mouth of the Capilano River and
behold the wateis transformed into
a writhing mass of silver backed
Coho following the special scent of

their river urging chem upstream.

Pick up your commemorative
Coho Walk 86 bution and join the
fun of Coho Festival 86.

Free shuttle buses will be stan-
ding by to take you back to your
car at Park Royal. A fee of one
dollar will be charged.

The Coho Walk is sponsored by
the GVRD, and the Coho Festival
86, is co-sponsored by the West
Vancouver Chiuuber of Commerce
