In the Men’s A event, Ian Leviton of the Evergreen Squash Club beat Nick Gudewill, Tim Bale, and John Hungerford in making his way to the finals where he lost 3-0 to another North Shore player, Bob Pud- dicombe of Hollyburn. Three others from Evergrecn in the Men's A were Mark Heancy (still a junior), Doug Kennedy, and Glen Williams. The A Vets, such as George Morfitt and Mike Jackson of Hollyburn, displayed a great deal of crafty play in the tour nament. Morfitt won it all by defeating Vish Singh. Jackson and then Art Chapman in the A Vets finals. Evergreen’s Richard Martin played caiceptionally well in the large draw of Men's B. He defeated M. Currey, M. Carter, 1 Conncll, and P. Dunno. before convincingly beating Ross Furguson 3-0 in the finals. Two others from Bvergreen, Nageb Jamal and Dave Williams, madc it to the quarterfinals. In the B 40 Vets. Hamish Jackson from = Evergreco defeated Don Simpson from . Jericho 3-2 to reach the final. Jackson won the final when opponent Ken Cummane misread the schedule and appeared two hours late. Lynn Broman, also of Evergreen, had lost to Cummane the previous day. Lee Bogiss, just one of many promising North Shore juniors, played well in the Men’s D event, losing in the quarterfinals to eventual winner N. Price. LEAGUE PLAY The first half of the season is over for the four divisions of the Open Squash League. On the final night of play in Division 1, the top two teams met head on, ticd at 201 points. Evergreen | and Denman Place 1 have been fighting for top spot for one and a half seasons. Last year, Evergreen managed to cdge out Denman Place at the halfway and for the 1981 final. However, Denman had its revenge this time around, downing Evergreen 3 matches to 2. TABLES TURNED The tables were tumed in Division 2. with a = rather strong Evergreen 3 topping the division, and Denman Place 2 in second, 5 points back.
