Thread are great, the band
has a unique sound that
goads you relentlessly with
guitar-driven dischord.

Ignite — serious hardcore
with spunk — kicked ass. (the
lead vocalist for Lgnite some-
how made it on to the stage
with The Misfits at Richards
a few nights later.)

After more than two
decades, Bad Religion are stili
power driven vet, a tittle bess
angst driven. The band’s lat-
est CD The New Asnerica is
notably polished and not as
raw as their previous releases.
A bit of a departure.
Nonetheless, the band put on

3rd, but rather a modey
crew of spiky haired punks,
face-painted metal heads and
beer-bellied rockers. What
type of band would draw
such a spectrum of people

_ you might ask? The Mistits,

that’s who.

A band that borders on
the term “legendary”, this
goth/punk/metal hybrid of
a band was ready to rock

Winnipeg's Guy Smiley
was the opening act and did
a mighty fine job of warm-
ing everyone up. The set was
packed with the type of ener-
gy that can only come from a
younger band hungry for the
attention of the always diffi-
cult to impress spectators.

Ry the time the Mistirs
were due to be up, the house
was packed and the crowd
readied for a “mosh-pitting-
Iv" good time. Drummer
“Dr. Chud,” guitar player
“Doyle Wolfgang Von
Frankenstein” and bassist

“Jerry Only” stepped on
stage dressed in thetr wadi-
tional Halloween-ready garly’
all set to give the people |:
what they wanted. The audi-
ence barely noticed the
absence of singer Michaei
Graves (Graves didn’: make
it across the border) as Jerry
Only did a fine job filling in.
By the time the night was
through, the Misfits had
blasted their way through a
full set of punk as onty they
can play. Battered and
bruised, but filly satistied,
the fans lett Richard’s with
tired smiles on their faces
and more than a little ring--
ing in their ears.
