A MOTION to amend North Van-
couver School District 44’s field
trip policy was recently defeated.

Brought forward by trustee Dr.
Ross Regan, the proposed
amendment would have required
board approval of ail field trips
two days and over ‘‘at least three
months in advance of the event.’’

Regan said his motion was
drafted to address both overall
field trip costs and the ever-in-
creasing costs of liability in-
surance.

He questioned the educational
merit of sending students on inter-
national field trips during school
months and took issue with a pro-
posed trip to Russia being orga-
nized by Argyle Secondary School.
