opportunities available
through North Shore
Community Services
(NSCS).

Volunteer instructors are
needed by a seniors’ recre-
ational facility to give day-
time classes to active seniors
in the following areas: cre-
ative writing, book of the
month, page-a-day novel, and
weight loss.

Coaches for T-ball, soft-
ball and 3-pitch are needed to
work with children between
April 8 and June 12 for one
hour on Mondays and
Wednesdays.

Coaches’ duties include
organizing practices, officiat-
ing games and working with
parenis.

Drivers are needed by an
organization that helps take
seniors to doctors’ and other
appointments, shopping or to
social events.

archives on the North Shore
for the School Education
Program. Docents work as
part of a team giving tours
and presenting special pro-
grams to school groups. The
program uses a hands-on
approach with touchable arti-
facts and photographs.
Training is provided.

Hosts to new immigrants
are needed by an organization
that helps new Canadians
adjust to life here. Volunteers
spend two or three hours per
week for a period of six
months with the newcomer.
Hosts are matched carefully
to newcomers who have sim-
ilar interests.
