The meeting was recently called
by West Vancouver District
Council, which has a tequest from
Ledingham McAllister Develop-
ments Ltd. for a development
permit for the proposal.

The building would have a sep-
arate three-level parking structure
located next to the lane.

A few months back, the
municipality examined a proposal
by a group called ACTION, which
was lobbying for a multi-use
theatre complex to be built on the
site.

At counci!’s request, the prop-
erty’s owners developed a prelim-
inary concept that incorporated a
theatre at the rear of the financial
centre.

Bui the resulting building would
have been bigger than what had
been originally planned.

And a major stumbling block
to building a theatre complex at
the site was that the issue of West
Vancouver's theatre requirements
is currently being determined by a
regional cultural facilities study
for the entire North Shore.

Recommendations from the
study are not anticipated until the
early part of the summer.

theatre concept on the Odeon or
any other site, the overall feasibil-
ity of the project would have to
be addressed in greater detail.

In the meantime, the owner of
the Odeon property has asked for
approval of the the proposed fi-
nancial centre.

The advisory design pane! has
already given the proposed design
its approval.
