Man jailed for trafficking A 24-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced Dec. 1 to 30 days in jail in North Vancouver provincial court for trafficking narcotics. Andrew Charles Diotte of no fixed address pleaded guilty to trafficking narcotics after a Nov. 29 seizure of marijuana. Appearing before Judge R.D. Grandison, Diotte was also put on probation fer one year and ordered nut to be found within two biocks of Beaux and Belles Pool Hall on East 15th for the duration of his probation. Gas line ruptured in Norgate EMERGENCY CREWS were called in to a townhouse construc- tion site at 15th Street and Bowser Avenue Friday at about 7:30 a.m. after a bulldozer ruptured a natural gas line. Scoutmaster jailed| for sex assaults A 46-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver scoutmaster was sentenced Dec. 4 to two years less a day in jail for sexual assault. Michael Oliver Kinnie was found guilty of two counts of sexual | assault of two nine-year-old boys in North Vancouver between 1987 and 1988. Appearing before Vancouver county court Judge Michelangelo Provenzano, Xinnie will also be put on probation for three years upon his release from jail. Man jailed for driving stolen car A SURREY man has been charged with possession of stolen prop- erty over $1,000 following the West Vancouver Police recovery of a stolen car Nov. 29. Police pulled over a 1988 Honda Prelude during a 3 a.m. routine check on the Trans-Canada Highway jusi east of Horseshoe Bay. The car pulled over, but the driver sped away after the police of- ficer stepped out of his car. A high-speed chase ensued with speeds reaching more than 140 kilometres per hour north along the Squamish Highway. Near Lions Bay, the driver of the Honda turned up an access road and stopped near a work yard. Police searched the area and ap- prehended a man identified as the passenger of the car. Charged is 21-year-old Viacent Richard Spelay. POLICE ARE on the lookout for thieves who recently broke into three North Vancouver auto body shops. The first break-in occurred at Maaco Auto Body, 945 West Ist St., sometime between July 2 and July 3. The culprits gained entry by using a ladder from a neighbor- ing lumber yard to gain access to the roof. Once on the roof, the suspects forced open a vent to enter the building. They then lowered themselves to the floor, using a rope or similar device. Once inside the body shop, the lights were turned on to assist the thieves in choosing their Joot. The suspects then forced open tool boxes and stole body shop tools such as sanders, polishers and buffers. They also entered several vehicles and removed stereo systems. The culprits then left via a bay door. The next break-in occurred overnight between Aug. 13 and 14, again at Maaco.
