Shaw Cable, headquartered at 1471 Pemberton Ave. in North Vancouver, will be holding an open house Saturday, Feb. 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The open house, which will be seen five on channel four, will feature tours and a draw for a color TV. Fifty-six thousand customers from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove, representing 88 per cent of North Shore TV viewers, are plug- ged into the Shaw cable system. Shaw offers its subscribers 28 basic channels, seven pay TV channels and over 40 FM stations. According to Shaw’s system manager Terry Medd, the Cana- dian cable company is the fourth largest multi-system operator in the country. Shaw is active in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and in the Maritimes. The eye-popping program varie- ty and the number of channels currently offered to the local public is expected to grow in the not-1e0-distant future. Said Medd: “We really pride ourselves on the variety. Our approach is to provide as wic: a variety as we can. We're excited at the way that it’s going.”* The company is expecting to ex- pand to a SOQchanne! capacity within the year. ‘‘We want to pro- vide more channels of choice so that we can entertain and educate everybody,”’ he said.
