THE FIRST shipment of B.C. ___

plywood to be stamped with Japa-

nese standards approval in Canada
was loaded at North Vancouver’s
Lynnterm forest products wharf
Tuesday.

Following a morning dorkside
ceremony, the vessel Emerald
Coast Joaded 32,000 sheets of the
JAS-stamped plywood.

All B.C. plywood bound for
Japan prior to the Aug. 23 ship-
Ment has had to undergo inspec-
tion upon its arrival in Japan to
ascertain whether it met stringent
Japanese plywood standards.

The Aug. 23 shipment was pro-
duced by Federated Co-Operatives
Ltd. and Crown Interior Wood
Products. The two B.C. mills are
among six now approved by the
Japanese to ship  pre-stamped
ylywood to Japan, which is B.C.’s
secoud largest forest products ex-
port market, -

During the week of August 29th you should see (weather
permitting):

~- Continutation of sidewalks, bricks and street lights in the 1300
and 1400 biocks of Marine Drive

- Removal of pavement and installation of paving stones in the
intersection at 141h Street and Bellevue Avenue

Street lighting is minimal. Although some will be energized.
Travelling lanes and parking will continue to be restricted.
