B2 - Sunday News, September 6, 1981 The route has been finalized for the Terry Fox Run scheduled for Sep- tember 13 in West Van- couver. — = The approximately 10 kilometre run will start at the Capilano -100 tower in the Park Roya! South Mall and will proceed behind the mall and the bowling alley- theatre complex and up to Marine Drive. The route will then go left on the road to the SPCA centre and will cross into Ambleside Park, where participants will run west along the field, through the parking lot and on to Argyle Avenue. At 18th Street, the route cuts to the seawall and foliows the seawall -to the end (24th street). It then turns left on Bellevue Street, continues to 31st Street and goes onto Marine Drive. This is the halfway point in ' the run. Participants will run on Marine Drive to 28th Street _then on 28th to Bellevue and east to 13th Street and Ambleside Park. Runners then take the path south of the tennis courts to the SPCA and the original GSL coaches certified Eleven football coaches in the Gordon Sturtridge league received their Level I certification last week as the countdown towards the beginning of the season begins. The coaching clinic was held in conjunction with the B.C. Amateur Football Association and under the direction of ex-B.C. Lions player Tyrone Walls. Twenty-five coaches were involved in the clinic and the following GSL coaches were certified: Bill Broadway, Tony Horvath, Mike Horvath, Tony Tedder, Tom Neumann, Peter Storey, Jeff Storey, Mike Cann, Mike Webster, Kurt Larson and Brian Taylor. A GSL spokesman said the clinics are provided in order to certify the coaches at levels I, Il, and III and therefore provide the players with better instruction. This in turn will lead to a better level of safety and cut down on the number of playing injuries. The GSL season kicks off September 20, with games at Norgate Park starting at 10 am. — There is stil time for interested players to register for the league, especially 14 and 15 year olds in the Deep Cove and West Vancouver areas. Youth referees sought The West Vancouver Soccer Association is “desparately” in need of referees for the coming season. And for that reason people are being urged to attend the North Shore Youth Referee’s Clinic to be held September 8, 10, and 11. Anyone over [4 years of age Can attend the clinic and after writing an examination they will be qualified to referee youth soccer mat- ches. Colin Clark said the soccer association always has problems gctting§ referees and urges people to attend the clinic.
