CHRISTMAS IS a time for fami-
lies to be together and that usually
includes the family pet. But
Christmas can be a hazardous time
for the household pet.

The British Columbia Humane
Education Society warns that some
of the favorite seasonal Christmas
plants found in many homes this
time of year can harm pets.

Mistletoe berries can be danger-
ous to pets if eaten, society coor-
dinator Ken Hemmerick warns,
saying the berries cause stomach
pains, tremors, depression.

vomiting, breathing difficulties,
lethargy and diarrhea, he said.
