L&H gets equipment support

LIONS Gate Hospital is among
seven B.C. hospitals to benefit by
provincial funding for equipment
purchases.

The Ministry of Health has provided
$3.6 million for a group purchase of seven
nould-purpose-interventional and angiogra
phy units.

The machines will enable the hospitals to
maintain and enhance their general radi-

ographic-tluoroscopic procedures such as
aastrointestinal studies, along with the
Investigation of other organs such as kidneys
and blood vessels.

The ministry's contabution represents
60% of the cost of the new machines. “Ine
equipment replaces existing machines.
Individual hospitals will contribute the
remaining 40% through local resources.

The other hospitals receiving new equip
mene are Burnaby Hospital, Surrey

Memonal Hospital, Richmond Hospital,
Roval Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and Reval
Inland Hospit:! in Kamloops.

Said Health Minister Joy MacPhail,
“The savings that will be realized as a result

To date the ministry has announced a
total of $3] million for new equipment.
