‘Hempsters’ know the score Dear Editor: 1 am writing this letter in regard to A.P.McCredie’s May 7 article about us ‘‘pic-eyed soldiers.” I was actually quite stunned at your somewhat open-minded arti- ele. Amazingly enough, you men- tioned that hemp was a renewable, natural resource, But, as usual, the focus was again on the ‘‘stoners’ at the April 23 rally. You stated that few knew about the environmental benefits and that they just wanted to ‘go into a 7-11 and buy some joints for the hockey game." You, sir, are completely wrong. Most, if not all, ‘thempsters’’ now know about the potential (paper, fuel, food...) of cannabis. Besides, you're completely miss- ing the point. If we don't make some drastic changes in our lifestyles, very quickly, then our species, among others, will become extinct. Dead. Gone. Understand? Now gct realistic. We know that hemp can sustain our future. So doesn't it make sense to you to utilize it to its full potential? And as for marijuana, use will go down, as has been proven in many parts of the world. You say ‘‘we = already enough taxes.”’ I totally agree. resource clothing, pay Trying to protect sanity Dear Editor: My heartfelt thanks on your ed- itorial, ‘“Tube terror," as it has aud will have a great influence an our children’s minds.
