ALBERTE Crighton, the mother of North Shore News publisher Peter Speck, died Sunday, May 9, in her Norgate park home. She was 8&6, A North Shore resident for 50 years, Mrs. Crighton remained ac- tive in the community. until rela- tively recently. She drove her own car until late in life and took Spanish lessons when she was 80. Mrs. Crighton was also an en- thusiastic gardener and cook. An avid reader, she was fluent in both French and English. Mrs. Crighton was born in Montreal, the youngest of five children. She moved to West Vancouver in 1943. Her first husband, West Van- couver's Alan Speck, died in 1959. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Bert Crighton. Mrs. Crighton is survived by her sisters Yvette Lalonde of West Vancouver and Marcelle Cormier of Montreal; daughter Andree Ross of North Vancouver; son Peter Speck of West Vancouver; and grandsons Scott Ross, Alan Speck, David Speck and John Speck. “A> funeral” service for Mrs. Crighton will be held today at North Vancouver's Boal Memorial vay ALBERTE CRIGHTON pascad away on Sunday, May 9. There will be a family gathering at Mrs. Crighton’s home after the funeral service. Arson determined as fire cause A CARPORT fire that destroyed 11 cars and trucks at the Seymour Village Garden Apartments on Tuesday, May 4, was caused by arson,. according to a North Van- couver RCMP spokesman. The fire started at 4:15 a.m. in a carport located at 904 Lytton Ave, RCMP Const. Barry Mattock said fuel was spilled to spread the fire. He said none of the destroyed vehicles had been broken into.
