Canadian Cancer Society needs
volunteers to help kick butts

THE CANADIAN Cancer Society
is seeking volunteers to train as
group leaders for new program
designed to help people quit
smoking.

The program, which is calied
“Fresh Start,”” will provide smok-
ers with educational information,
essential strategies and support
that is designed to help them stop
smoking.

Facilitators should have the fol-
lowing qualifications: some time
to share, an empathetic under-
standing of smokers, and an abili-

ty to motivate, laugh and have
fun.

“This opportunity should pro-
vide volunteers with the skills and
confidence needed for group lead-
ership and a sense of achieve-
ment,”’ say organizers.

Training for co-facilitators will
be held at the Canadian Cancer
Society’s office in Vancouver
from Fridzy, Nov. 29 to Sunday,
Dee. 1.
